Safe for the baby’s skin
Baby’s skin is very sensitive and absorbent in the developmental stage. Their skin being more porous than adults, it absorbs more of everything it comes in contact with including the harsh chemicals from the clothes. Organic clothing certified by GOTS goes through a stringent process that regulates the use of chemicals on the organic product. No harmful carcinogenic chemicals are used on GOTS certified product. The processing units are held accountable during surprise inspections. Organic cotton protects and nurtures baby’s tender skin.
Protects Environment
Organic cotton farming methods are safe for the environment. It uses less energy and water. The soil is nurtured to health making it fertile for longer period of time. The farming methods lock carbon dioxide into the soil. Organic cotton farming produces 94% less greenhouse gas emissions. Strict regulations of GOTS prohibit hazardous chemicals and mandates processing units to treat all wastewater to protect the water supplies.
Cotton is a natural fiber with soft, natural and breathable qualities. Organically grown cotton is the closest match to the organic skin of the baby as it preserves the natural properties of the cotton fiber. It is nature’s protection to the baby’s developing skin.
What Is Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)?
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers through covering social, chemical and environmental requirements in every stage of processingunits
The objectives of GOTS:
The aim of this Standard is to define requirements to ensure organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labelling in order to provide a credible assurance to the end consumer.
The GOTS is intended for use with any product that contains at least 70% organic natural fiber. Each stage of production is required to be certified, beginning at the processing stage and ending at the last seller in the final business-to-business transaction.
